nicki minaj

Nicki Minaj is a polarizing figure; one could say folks love her or hate her, but many in the hip-hop world love to hate her. With the recent release of her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Minaj-bashing is once again in season.

PopMatters gave the album a 1 out of 10, calling even the superior half of the disc "very poorly thought out rap music masquerading as pop." There have been plenty of other negative reviews; you don't have to look far, and many of them focus on single "Stupid Hoe," which has been called everything from vulgar (which is true) to a-rhythmic (which isn't).

Above, you can see the official artwork for Nicki Minaj‘s second single from her upcoming album dropping in the Summer – “Your Love“. I think lots of people prefer this record over her “Massive Attack” single, so I’m sure this track will rise to the top of the charts when released on 1st June. You can also see the official cover for Drake‘s third single, “Miss Me“, from his Thank Me Later album (dropping on June 15th) after the jump below. The track features Lil Wayne and we can be expecting the CDQ version sometime next week!

Forbes has released their annual Cash Kings list, rap mogul & rap royalty Jay-Z is in the #1 spot on the list coming in with $37 million that he made within the last year. Which is not a surprise, the owner of Bad Boy record label Diddy came in at #2 with $35 million, most of his revenue came from his endorsement with Ciroc Vodka company. Female rap mc nicki minaj is the only female on the list showing that she is tough enough & has what it takes to role with the big dogs. Minaj is in the #15 spot with a total of 6.5 million, within the last year she has released her debut album Pink Friday & been apart of two major tours.

Nicki Minaj was a no-show for her Hot 97 Summer Jam set in New Jersey yesterday, following a dis from Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg. While introducing upcoming Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, Rosenberg said, "We're all about that real hip-hop, not 'Starships,'" referring to Minaj's current pop-oriented single. Minaj's YMCMB label leader Lil Wayne quickly took to Twitter to say, "Young Money ain't doing summer jam." Minaj soon followed on her Twitter, saying, "Wow. U niggaz just fucked up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB," and "I go above and beyond for my fans. But won't ever go against Wayne's word. What he says, goes."

Minaj was set to perform with Nas and Lauryn Hill, and the two stars took the stage despite Minaj's absence, with Hill joining Nas on "If I Ruled the World." YMCMB label artist Tyga performed earlier in the day, before the spat.

Once Minaj withdrew, legendary Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex said, "We don't fuck with commercial artists no more," adding, "We don't give a shit if you commercial or pop and you afraid to touch down in Jersey." Rosenberg wrote on his own Twitter, "Tonight just got interesting g."
